This place is in the heart of Union Square. It's in a great location in San Francisco and there is lots of shopping nearby and things to do. We stopped here for lunch, were greeted as soon as we came in, and were provided menus. The staff were friendly and attentive. I love that all of the items had pictures next to them on the menu so you know exactly what you are ordering. The menu had a large selection of entrees to choose from. We ordered the vegetable noodle soup and the chicken pad thai.

The food came out quickly and was hot. The portion size of the meals were generous and the food was good. I also like that they have chopped nuts and thai chili's on each table in case you want to add them to your dish.

I went in without seeing the Yelp review. I had a pad Thai and a curry rice and it was really on point. Got the veggie options on both and the tofu was really well done.

  • *****

Great place for grabbing quick lunch. Friendly staff with Thai restaurant standard of service (don’t expect much). Tried combination beef noodle which seemed to be specialty of this place. Slow-cooked brisket was as good as I found in Thailand. Big portion and I finished only half of it :)

  • *****

Fine dining it ain't but it's reasonably good food delivered fast, if a little expensive - but I guess the location has something to do with that. I paid $18 for a Pad Thai with a Diet Coke.

I am actually really surprised at the lower rating of this place. It's nothing super special but definitely not bad. Maybe I've just been lucky in ordering the right dishes.
I really enjoy the Pad See Ew, the larb and the tom yum. The curries (yellow and panang) are tasty but the portions aren't super generous, and the quality of the meat in it can be a little touch and go.
I love that there are chopped peanuts on the condiment tray. I smother everything in them.
The price isn't bad for the area and the service is perfectly pleasant and VERY quick. Probably not the place for a romantic date or dinner with your boss, but I'm a fan.

Great place to eat after watching a Musical!! Open late and the clear broth soup is better than the Beef broth ones. Our whole group agreed but that's our opinion. Otherwise the soup is very flavorful and good serving size, perfect for cold nights. Thai Ice Tea was delicious. Fast service.

Look. It's SF and you're in Union Square. You want something fast and moderately priced? You want take out? You want Thai noodles or some delicious soup?

King of Thai is your place.

There's also some delicious garlic chicken wings on the menu. One order of that some white rice and I was set. Oh yeah I got 12 wings in one order.

  • *****

Late night deliciousness. I had the BBQ fried rice. My husband had the buck noodle soup. Wow what flavor.

Impressed: This place was pretty good. There was a non-stop flow of people coming in and going out even after 9:30 pm. Walking up to the front door, lines of people waiting, it looked like your average hole-in-the-wall that was going to offer great food at a really reasonable price. The prices were a bit more than I would expect, but the flavors were so worth it! Each dish was u pique as one should expect. The papa salad was good. The Beef Noodle soup had some nice layers of flavor too. The staff was fast and friendly. Not the most attentive to checking in on how my meal was, but they were quick, so that made it worth it!

Great staff services and always take care of customer needs. At first time, I was very impressed with fired rice with crab and Thai style of noodles. But the second time, I quietly missed the taste of fired rice with crab in the first time? I think the taste of the food depended on the chef in each time. By the way, if you like Thai food, it is okay to try out with this restaurant because the quantity of food and the price are reasonable!

Went there to have lunch after a nice morning in the Union Square. Small, quick and clean place just a short walk from the Union Sq. Ordered vegetarian dishes that was pretty yummy and full of flavor. Budget friendly - was under $30 for 2 people. Recommended

Loved the roasted duck noodle soup. Flavorful and tastes unique. Definitely cannot find a similar taste near home. Roasted duck over rice was not as great, but the duck is consistently good here. Food came out quickly. Soup not quite hot, but still loved it. Would definitely come back!

  • *****

Was so good I am looking forward to going back again. My meal was HOT like it should be, which some restaurants can't seem to get right. To top it off it tasted so good, also very reasonable prices.

  • *****

This is my absolute favorite place to get Roasted Duck Noodle Soup--- the soup is light but very flavorful. I ran into here by chance after waiting awhile at a restaurant nearby. We weren't expecting much so when we had a bite of their recommended duck noodles, we were truly taken aback. Highly recommend coming here for their noodle soup dishes in combination with the delicious crunchy complementary side jalapenos and peanuts on the table.

I have a love hate relationship with King of Thai. I love it because they carry my favorite soup, but I hate it cause its sooo overpriced and I have a hard time finding it in the city. Darn you supply and demand.

Pork noodle soup- fav with the thick noods
    Papaya salad- no complaints

The rest of the menu looks promising, but I don't steer away from my go to meals. The restaurant always looks busy, but there's never too long of a wait. Service is quick.

  • *****

This was a place my mom and I went to in search of a place that could serve us right away as we were both hungry. It's a busy place but the service was fast and we were seated and served food right away. We ordered a delicious fried rice and pad see ew, which was both enough for the two of us. The waitress always checked up and refilled the water we needed, and the prices were on the high side but the food was worth it.

  • *****

The place has constant traffic. People never stop coming in. We sat down at around 9:15 pm and people were coming in in droves.

The Thai food came quite rapidly and was rather tasty. If you have a craving for Thai near Union Square, this is the place.

  • *****

Great service, the staffs are mostly Thai and I believe the chefs are also Thai. Huge portion with reasonable price. Would recommend to order beef noodle, taste like what you can get in Thailand.

  • *****

This was my first time here, a friend took me here for lunch. It was a bit busy as expected (during lunch time) and we had to sit very close to another person, so a little uncomfortable to talk personal matters. The food was served fast and it was extremely delicious. The service was ok.

  • *****

I ordered noodle soup with a variety of beef cuts n slices. So affordable (at $13) yet so flavorful.
    Plus, they open late.

  • *****

King of Thai is our family's favorite spot to come to everytime we're in SF. The roasted duck fried rice is our favorite! Thanks for never disappointing, King of Thai!

  • *****

Great flavors! The duck curry had more fat than meat, but it tasted great. Service was attentive and friendly.

  • *****

Chill, unassuming vibe. Very attentive service. Great food (the tom ka gai - wonderful!). Highly recommend for great food with no pomp or circumstance.

  • *****

Good food. I always get the thai fried rice and fried chicken. The prices are reasonable. Enjoy!

  • *****

Came in to order take out and the service was really quick! My order was ready in 10 minutes! I ordered pad see ew with tofu and it had a pretty nice flavor. The tofu had a nice chewy texture and it wasn't overly spicy. If you're looking for a place to eat on Taraval that is reasonably priced (especially for the Bay Area), I'd check this place out!

  • *****

Solid food, very surprised how good it was. Also, came 2 minutes before closing and they were happy to have me. Recommend.

  • *****

We ordered our standard items : beef pad see ew and green papaya salad. Both were very tasty. Service was fast. I'd eat here again. We walked over from SFMOMA

  • *****

I'm actually giving this place 3.5 stars.

We came here one time as we wanted to grab a quick lunch before we do what we're supposed to do for the day and it served us well. Prices were decent and portions were pretty generous.

I ordered yellow curry with beef while my bf ordered chicken breast over fried rice. Both were good. I didn't, however, like the consistency of the yellow curry as it was watery. It was still tasty though. My order came with papaya salad and that too was delicious.

Customer service was good. They brought our food out very quickly and the staff were also friendly. They hovered around though while we ate so that was pretty uncomfortable.

Location is pretty convenient as it's adjacent to Union Square/Macy's. Ambiance is loud as it gets pretty busy during the day and the place can feel tight. I do, however, like the wall art of San Francisco and Bay Area teams on their wall so make sure to check that out.

King of Thai Noodle House is one of my boyfriend's favorite hole in the wall in the city and with the decent experience we had during our last visit and despite the 3.5 stars only, I wouldn't mind coming back here for a quick Thai food goodness.

Came in Thursday evening ... pretty busy but quick turn around service .. also tons of menu options.. I asked the server for a recommendation and he said the number 4.

So YES. Order the combo beef noodle soup. PHENOMENAL ..amazing noodle soup, delicious broth and large portion... almost sharable if you're not too hungry. I was starving so i devoured it!

Quick, in and out spot. Soooo good, highly recommend.

  • *****

Ambience: It's ok. Not super good.
Order and quantity: we ordered Vegetarian. Basil fried rice, drunken noodles, tofu red curry. And the quantity was good. Plenty for one person. If you get two dishes you can share with 3 ppl.
    Service: flash speed.
Location: in SF. Opposite to ofarrel parking garage. Easy to find.
Parking: street or paid building parking.
    Price: nominal.
Restroom: not clean, found bugs and all.

    Over all food tasted great.

  • *****

5 star because of their thai seafood fried rice!! This is my second time coming back here... the first time im with my co
Worker and my second time last two days ago im with my husband and he loves what i recommend for our dinner might coming back next month

Love stopping here when I'm in town. Today I ordered the beef Thai rice, & Gaelic chicken (off menu) with veggies. The rice was made extra Thai spicy just like I asked. It was exquisite !! I loved that they did as I asked and put no soy sauce on my rice yet it was still very tasty. Also not soggy. Overall will definitely return again, & again. Lol.

  • *****

One of the best Thai places I've been to! They're open until 2:00 AM and is always packed with people. Order the crab fried rice and pad see-ew. You won't regret it!

boyfriend and I went here. Food was amazing! small but busy place

  • *****

King of Thai Noodle isn't much of a king. Not authentic! I had the beef noodle soup, usually called "boat noodle" (#1 on their menu). I suppose that should be what I expected - beef noodles and not the authentic Thai flavors I'm use to. It tasted like a fusion of pho and boat noodle. It didn't taste bad and the service wasn't terrible like the other reviews warned.

Overall, I'm definitely okay with the experience. The price was a little high ($13, compared to $8-$9 at other restaurants for the same thing). A little more noodle than other places, but wouldn't recommend unless I'm in a pinch.

  • *****

Amazing pad see ew, not greasy! Thai tea is sooo delicious! Very nice place right by union square. Highly recommend!

  • *****

I was somewhat hesitant to eat here, considering some of the reviews raised some red flags. But after having a late lunch here with a couple folks, I'll definitely come back.

Service was fast and friendly. The staff were also accommodating of my stroller.

    What we ordered:
    - Chicken panang curry: There was more than I expected, and the meal came with white rice. The flavor was good, although I wished it had been spicier.
    - Fried chicken with rice: Came as expected.
    - Chicken with green beans: Requested extra spicy and got it!
    - Beef jerky appetizer: Deliciously seasoned, and the dip provided also had good flavor
    - Red wine: As expected
    - Thai iced tea: Great flavor, and the perfect amount. Some restaurants add a lot of ice, resulting in not a lot of tea, but it was just the right mix here.

I would definitely come back and try more items on the menu! I'm looking forward to the spicy beef noodle soup :)

My hotel was a 5 minute walk from this restaurant so after a long day of sightseeing, my family and I decided to have dinner nearby our hotel and this was one of the recommendations! My mom specifically wanted noodle soup and luckily King of Thai provides this along with many other signature thai dishes.

It was getting crowded at the time we came and luckily there was a table available for us. The price is around $10 to $15 per dish which was amazing! My mom and brother each got noodle soups while I ordered my go to thai dish (chicken pad see ew, yeah!) and roasted duck rice plate for my boyfriend. The food came out very quick and we were all munching down within seconds of receiving it. I had my fair share of pad see ew from many Thai restaurants and after devouring my dish, I am not exaggerating when I say it has to be one of the best pad see ew dishes I ever had. Everyone else is also satisfied with their food and from my perspective, all the portions are the perfect size for each person. I highly recommend stopping by!

I was in the city for day this week. Was craving Thai noodles while walking around market and 5th. Found this place..

    The good:
even though it was busy I got my food right away. I ordered Drunken Noodles. And a beer. My food was excellent. The flavor, the texture, it was spicy with out melting my mouth.. the beer was cold.. nice and cold.. the price was not bad for bing so delicious. $13.99 for a plate of noodles.

    The Bad:
The staff hovers.. like stands next to me looking up or off to the other side of the restaurant, but as soon as the last bite of food was transferred from the fork to my mouth my plate was picked up and the check was laid in front of me. Kinda felt rushed. I had asked for peanut sauce after I got my food and I was informed it would be $4.50 for a small side of peanut sauce. That is way way way too much $ for a little plastic cup of peanut sauce, it normally is free.. also the bathroom was filthy.

But I did not go here to eat peanut sauce and use the bathroom. I ate here to get some noodles! And they were good.

For a late night 1 am meal in San Francisco I couldn't have asked for a better place. As a Thai resident, this was on point authenticity and greatly priced.

  • *****

I would say that this is the same Thai tastes as noodles that you will get from Thailand.

it comes with big portions especially noodles, so for small stomach probably can have 2 people share together.

  • *****

Love the location and hours. Still open at 3am. Food is outstandin, and the service is awesome. Love their chicken soup, among other dishes.

  • *****

Fast service with fair prices. Portions are just right. Food is filled with fresh authentic flavors. I added shrimp, which was cooked perfectly, and crushed pepper for an extra kick.

  • *****

Great food! Ordered Pad See-Ew Noodle for pick up and the food was ready within 5 minutes of when they said it was. Great that the restaurant is open late when most other places are closed!

  • *****

Haven't been here for quite some time but this was my go to spot when I would be in town for business. I love their panang curry with chicken. They are fast but not super friendly. Location is close to the Marriott.

  • *****

Good food. quick service. Great fast simple thai lunch kind of place. My go to.

  • *****

Their real taste of thai food in San Francisco make me feel like I 'm in Bangkok. Recommended menu is Pad thai koong Sod and Kuay Tiew ped tun.

  • *****

This place saved my family and myself from hunger, lol. The food was great, no complain about it. We were there for late lunch and we were seated in about 2 minutes. They do not validate parking at the Union Square.

  • *****

Very good Thai restaurant. Price is reasonable. Food is clean and yummy.

Let me set the scene for you. Beautiful day at Dolores celebrating 4/20's lesser known and underappreciated sister holiday, 4/21. After a peace-filled 4 hours we set out on a trek for foos with one goal in mind...Cheesecake Factory. One person in my group wants to show another person (who's visiting from Los Angeles) the view of Union Square from the balcony and I don't blame him. So we get there and they tell us hour and fifteen minute wait and we're like, "...nah", so we walk over to the nearest place that looks decent on Yelp and thus, King of Thai Noodle House!
We sit, order some pad see ew, fried chicken fried rice, yellow curry (holy crap so good).
    "Shit s mad srumptious"
-my friend, about 50% through our meal.
This place is excellent and convenient in that its near Union Squre but not super pricy and quick to seat. Our servers were perfectly curteous. Listen, you know what you're getting when you walk into this place, and this place even surprises a bit past that, enjoy!

  • *****

Best roasted duck I've had in America. Service was quick. Communication was simple and effective (standard numbering system for Thai restaurants). Portion size was perfect for me. Highly recommended.

  • *****

Small place open late serving good thai food. The beef soup was very good and matched well with a cold Singha. Staff were friendly and menu was large but focused. Being one who avoids msg they were honest and accommodating, appreciate that. Overall the place could be a little cleaner but food was tasty.

  • *****

An average place, but bonus star for its clutch location and late night hours.

When its a Friday, what else is there to do but drink with friends? And when its been a long week (which it was), you want to get started on that asap. In these situations, something tends to get lost in translation-- namely, food.

So that's how I ended up, at midnight, hungry af. Since I was staying at the Mark Hopkins, and my friend lived in SoMa, we opted to take the BART back to Powell and then look for food. Hence, the clutch location.

Arriving, it seemed we were at the tail end of the late night diners. We were promptly seated and opted to order the crab fried rice and rad na. Even in my inebriated state, the rad na was nothing to write home about. However, the crab fried rice was dope-- you can actually taste the crab in the dish.

The restaurant itself is nothing special and to be honest, a little run down. However, fancy places don't matter if they're far away and closed, so King of Thai Noodle House, I'll be forever grateful.

  • *****

Must try the pork noodle soup, you can ask them to cook “tomyum style”. The PadThai is also Fabulous!
    Nui Nuttawut

  • *****

Had the Pad Kee Mao and it was great. Great flavor and just a bit of heat to spice it up a bit. Service was quick and reasonably friendly, about what was expected with solo dining at the counter. Giving it 5 stars because it was good, filling and relatively inexpensive.

  • *****

Great vegetarian noodle soup! It was great they accommodated my vegan needs! And delicious to boot! Good service, decent price for the location, and super fast! Definitely recommend!

  • *****

I had noodle Thai style and it's great . I did not finish it it is because it was big. I will be back again

  • *****

I love this place.Whether you want a quick lunch or your with your friends, I would recommend this place. It does get busy during lunch time, so be patient, but there is a reason for that. Quite a lot of options. The service is quick. I'm a fan of pretty much everything. Love it!

  • *****

Pleasantly surprised. I honestly wasn't expecting much - but on arrival service was quick and pleasant.
Between two of us we shared a larb (REALLY good - fresh, lots of coriander), a pad see-ew (also great) and a yellow curry (portion a little small but fairly tasty).
The condiment tray is a great addition - there are chopped peanuts, which I put on pretty much everything because.. peanuts.
Prices are fairly standard for the area. In my opinion (as a non local) it's pretty over priced, but not extortionate for San Fran.

  • *****

Good food. Probably the best beef pad see ew I've had. This place knows how to make it not oily and maintain the integrity of the noodle. We also got tom yum soup with chicken. TBH, we could've done without protein. The pieces of chicken were dry and sunk to the bottom. Their service was good and quick. Even though we were squeezed in at the back, they made sure we had the same friendly service as everyone else dining there. I would definitely come by again and try all the other noodle dishes.

  • *****

Went there for a late snack. The service was super fast and the quality of food was high. I recommend it to anyone who want to eat in San Fran

  • *****

What a terrific lunch! I had the Pad Thai with a cucumber salad. Service was fast and friendly. The dish was full of complex Thai flavors. I diffidently recommend this spot.

  • *****

I really enjoyed this place. I rarely order curry outside of Hawaii, but did so here. The flavor was awesome. Food temperature was perfect. I'm just visiting the area or I would be a regular.

  • *****

It's a good place to get some fried rice or noodles. The food is good and the service is OK. Prices are average, but normal for such a location. You get big portions and the staff is helpful. They don't have vegan options, but could offer to change some stuff to make it vegan.

  • *****

It's pretty good but a little spendy when you compare it to other places for the amount you get. Not the nicest interior but the prompt service makes up for it.

  • *****

The best chicken Thai style fried rice I have ever ate.

  • *****

The Thai Style Fried Rice with Chicken was DELICIOUS! No 1 Fried Rice. It was a blast.

The Roasted Duck over Rice was nice, but i've eaten more delicious one.

  • *****

Great place with speedy service. Walked in and was pointed to a table to sit. Water and menus were brought to the table. Menu has pictures of the items listed. Ordered the Crab Fried Rice (real crab meat) with hot tea. Dining room shows its age, nothing too bad. Popular place as it was packed around dinner time on a Wednesday Evening.

  • *****

Quick meal at great prices and pleasant, prompt service. We tried 4 different dishes and all were tasty and plentiful.

  • *****

Not much interaction with the staff but the food is amazing. I had the pad see eew and tried the duck fried rice which was absolutely flavorful. There wasn't much of a wait and we got our food very quickly. I want to go back to try their fried banana and ice cream. The look of the place is modern and nice looking. And my stomach didn't hurt after eating here haha. I want to come back to try different dishes.

  • *****

This is a great place to go when you are visiting union square. It's right next to Macy's. The prices have gone up a bit and now they are completive to the surrounding restaurants. Soon as you walk in someone is there to greet you and seat you. It can be busy at time, but they have plenty of bar seats and in back. The noodle soup dishes are the best deal. There is plenty to share too. I've been here twice and it's been busy, but not packed both times. It beats trying to squeeze the Cheese Cake Factory. There the wait is hours long.

This is a good alternative if you aren't looking for a view and all you want is a quick and easy meal.

  • *****

Thus place is amazing. The interior is not great but it doesn't matter. You're here to eat fairly cheap but excellent Thai food, who cares about what's on the walls? The food here is simply excellent and the service super fast. I'd totally recommend the pad see ew, one of the best in the city. Regarding what protein to put in your order, chicken is fine, beef is really good, pork is excellent and the duck is simply perfect.

  • *****

Had the roast duck noodle soup. It was really great at a good price. Would recommend

  • *****

PHad thai and green tea ice cream, very good, fast service and good ambiance I will come back

  • *****

Good place to have a great food while you shopping around, i order the Pad Thai which is pretty good, and the green tea ice cream , service nice and fast

  • *****

This place is very nice. Most of the time busy but the service is fast. Very nice staff, good food servings clean and always welcoming i always bring my frienda here when they want thai food

  • *****

Very good! Great flavor. Affordable, fast, good service.
One of the best Thai dishes I have tasted!!!!

  • *****

Open until 3am that cured our drunken Thai food search last night - so glad we found this place! $13 for each soup, #4 combo beef noodle soup (broth is amazing) and the seafood noodle soup. We both got flat rice noodles. The papaya salad is great and the spicy went well with our soups. (They'll warn you it's really spicy haha) I like that they have a jar of peanuts on the side with other condiments.

The service is fast and efficient, the food is satisfying and big portions. I would skip the $3.95 Thai iced tea though!

  • *****

Very busy, great location, huge Thai menu, very attentive wait staff, and while casual the food is super good. I just ate there three nights in a row and each time it was delicious. Watching the kitchen work making everything fresh amazing!

  • *****

I was visiting San Francisco and King of Thai was close to my hotel. Because I was a party of 1, I was able to sit right away in the bar area against the wall. The prices are reasonable and the food came out quickly. The wait staff was friendly although they forgot to bring me my tea until much later. There was also some issue with the bill but it got sorted out immediately. Again, the waiter and host was very friendly and the service was quick.

I ordered the Pad See Ew which was super tasty and the vegetable spring rolls were delicious too. Great experience overall.

  • *****

It is my third time visit King of That noodle, I was there exactly a year ago. And nothing has changed, same nice staffs and menu items.
Customer services: I have no complaint, they always have nice smile and friendly attitudes. Last time I brought two of my cousins both less than 7 years old, the first great impression that they gave me was their staffs' thoughtfulness, it was a busy lunch time but they noticeded it then served me ice waters with Togo cup covered and straws, extra utensils that for kids.
Food: We ordered Crab fried rice, Shrimp Pad keep Mao stir fried flat rice noodle, Combination beef noodle soup, and pumkim curry. All of them are pretty good and we finished completely! But if you are not into spicy food please make sure to ask if it's possibler to non spicy or not. Because one of my friend she ordered the pumkim curry but didn't know it is spicy so she ended up drinking a big bottle of ice waters, haha.
Parking spot are extremely limited, we literally just walked there and parked the car freaking far away instead.

  • *****

Excellent food. Good service. Portion other than rice was less than I am used to. Informal. Does a good business even mid afternoon. A good sign.

  • *****

We have come here for years since we visit San Francisco once a year. It's a small place located in Union Square. We love their duck noodle soup. It's a rich soup with mild heat so you don't have to fear the spice. Their other dishes can be somewhat spicy but you can certainly ask them to tone down the heat. Their rice dishes and curry are flavorful. We usually get those in medium heat.

I read some other Yelp reviewers had slow service but we experienced prompt friendly service on a weeknight. The food came faster than expected. It felt like we had placed the order only a few minutes earlier when the food arrived. It's a busy crowded spot without many tables but the night we went I didn't see anyone waiting for service. The prices are comparable to other restaurants that serve similar fare.

  • *****

I would say this place is a 3.5 star restaurant, but gave it a bump since they close after midnight. It's a place where I would be OK to eat at when I'm in the mood for Thai food, but not good enough for the constant crave.

I ordered the Guay Tiaw Lord noodle dish and thought it tasted pretty average. I felt that the dish was one big blob of gravy and everything else was just swimming in it. Also, the portion size wasn't exactly the most beneficial when tax and tip put the dish at around $18 dollars. I just felt like something was lacking throughout the whole meal.

I've had their Crab fried rice in the past and thought that tasted really good. So perhaps my most recent visit was just an off day. Hopefully that's the case.

  • *****

We were surprised to find such great food and service from a hole in the wall nestled in Macy's side street!! Such a find!! Quick, food food and reasonable for being in Union Square and Thai food. We were in and out with time to relax before our next event!

  • *****

Excellent pricess, good food, great service!

  • *****

I visited the restaurant on NYE for lunch with a group of 8. Luckily, we arrived right after a large group and got seated very quickly.

I ordered a spicy egg plant with beef. This was really tasty, and I wished I had a bit more basil.

Other plates ordered - fried chicken fried rice, bbq pork fried rice, pad Thai with chicken, pad kee mao with chicken, and wonton noodle soup.

All the dishes were delicious and well-portioned!

  • *****

Their beef soup base is off the hook! Can't go wrong with #1 - 5. #4 is highly recommended...this, coming from a real Thai dude such as myself! Flavors easily met my standards. Happy tummy.????????????

  • *****

Every time I live in union square for a few months I obsess over their chicken fried rice. It is really the only thing I ever order, not to say their other stuff isn't amazing but just their Thai chicken fried rice is just that much better that I don't bother. Best in the city by far! And they are always super fast with their takeout, almost too fast where I have to hurry to get the food because it's ready before I'm ready.

  • *****

Loooove their pad see ew (sometimes listed as pad siew at other Thai restaurants) here! Being Thai, this is definitely one of my favorite dishes. You're either a pad thai or a pad see ew person, there's no in between, haha! My family and I come to eat here if we're in SF or the Union Square area. The location is super convenient to walk to if you're already hanging out within Union Square. Closest parking garage to this would be the O'Farrell Garage just a block away. They can be busy if you come during rush hour, otherwise, you get seated pretty quick. I've not had a problem with their service all the times I've been here. I sometimes have the fear of catching the workers talk crap in Thai, but I haven't experienced any of that. Apparently, they're open pretty late too, which is convenient if you're out drunk & need a place to eat and sober up or just need a midnight meal like I do sometimes.

  • *****

Arrived late at night in San Francisco and you can count on this place for a decent meal.

I got the crab fried rice and the . I was pleasantly surprised with how much crab meat was added to the rice. On the other hand, the Pad Kee Mao was so-so, not really a big fan.

Disclaimer: I only ordered takeout through Yelp and do not have any input on the quality of service there.

  • *****

amazing authentic food. extremely nice waiters, good environment, food came out also 5 minutes later. would recommend

  • *****

Still the best in town..but the chinese lady that worked there is a real pain in the ass. She doesnt answer if you speak English, what the fork ????

  • *****

I came here a little more than a week ago and was quite pleased with the quickness of the service. We came in a group of about 12 and only had to wait about 20 mins before we were seated. Having no reservation before, this was great for us! I ended up ordering the panang curry with chicken and chicken satay which I split with another friend. Special shoutout to the chicken satay as the meat was very juicy and tender - would definitely order again! The panang curry was also flavorful and the taste was just right. I would definitely go back here for Thai food again!

  • *****

My fav to go place in SF for a quick hearty lunch. Love the food here. Very good options for vegetarians as well. Love the chef specials and the roasted duck is good. And it's open till 3am- so that's great! Very reasonably priced even for the budget traveler.

  • *****

Best Pad Thai I have ever had. Everyone in my party had a different meal and each was as delicious as the next.

  • *****

It was bustling with people ordering, coming in and leaving. Very interesting vibe. I order the crab fried rice with Tom yam soup. The presentation was ok. Homely in other words authentic.

  • *****

Awesome noodles!!!! Small place for such a busy spot though. Worth the wait.

  • *****

I love coming here anytime I'm around Union Square. This place is so consistent with their food, I don't think I ever had a mistake. My favorite thing to order here is their Duck Fried Rice and it's absolutely amazing.

They're very quick and efficient when it comes to ordering and getting our food out. Overall, great place to eat if you're looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite.

  • *****

This is my second time to visit King of Thai Noodle, still the same great combination beef noodle soup and Pad Kee Mao noodle, and surprisingly their Crab fried rice are really awesome too!
Great service, friendly staffs who will make you feel so welcoming, I love it!

  • *****

Tasty pad thai. Small portions though. Pricey for lunch. Service was good.

  • *****

When I'm craving Thai, this is my go to place.

Located in the heart of Downtown SFO near Union Square, this hidden gem has consistent Thai food. This is true whole in the Wall goodness.

No matter what time of day, this places is usually packed, for good reason. Don't let that keep you away. They know how to get you in and out while still holding to consistency and quality.

My go to meals are Larb Salad (Your choice of ground chicken, ground pork or ground beef cooked with red or green onions, mint leaves, ground roasted rice, chili and lime dressing served with sliced cabbage.)and Tom Kha Gai (spicy Thai style hot and sour soup with chicken, coconut milk, mushroom, galanga and lemongrass). There Pad Thai Noodle is on key and another on of my favorites.

Pro Tip: you can order half soups, great when you want soup with another meal.

  • *****

Nothing fancy here, just solid, excellent Thai food. The Tom Kha Gai soup and the green curry is some of the best I've ever had. I'm a regular here on layovers, and King of Thai never disappoints.

  • *****

Friendly staff and great food...mos def a San Francisco Treat

  • *****

Perfect place to cool down after midnight and after party!

It is my second time visit King of That noodle, I was there exactly a year ago.

  • *****

Legit Thai food. Had one of the best pad see ew in a while. Also had the combination beef noodle soup that tasted like pho with richer broth.

Best part is that the food came out in under 2 mins!

  • *****

The pad Thai was yummy!! Very authentic. Quick service and clean.

  • *****

Where you end up after spending a lot on Union Square ?. Having said that, they have gotten more expensive with less on their serving. They used to have generous portions at inexpensive prices. Oh well.

  • *****

I love the food but we have to wait long time for our food to arrive bcoz the server missed on ringing-in our orders.

  • *****

Ding dang do. What a really nice place no messing about order eat drink and out. Fantastic food

  • *****

This branch is my go-to lunch spot when I am running errands in Union Square. They have an extensive menu but the outstanding dishes are the roast duck over rice and roast duck noodle soup. I order the latter with egg noodles, which are slender and al dente. The broth is a revelation: rich and infused with star anise. The duck for both the rice and noodle dishes is deboned and perfectly glazed. A few pieces of broccoli gives a nod to healthy eating.

  • *****

I loved the food here, which is saying something considering I'm not a huge pho person. We were up late (at 2 am) and we were in the mood for some noodles. This restaurant was just down the road from our hotel so we went there. It had a cozy, hole in the wall feeling that I loved. Despite it being 2 am, we still had to wait a short amount of time but once we ordered, our meals came out right away. We were upstairs where there was a TV. It was on a Warriors game, so it was perfect for me. The food is given in huge portions and is very good. I recommend this restaurant to everyone as long as you can look past the condition of the restaurant. (personally, I liked it. Reminded me of the restaurants in China)

  • *****

The online prices are entirely different than the menu prices. I chose it for the cheaper prices. Egg rolls are $3 more and curry was $3 more... $6 more than I anticipated! And no brown rice.

  • *****

They were friendly and fast with service, was in and out myself and the food was delicious although the pad Thai was a little funny tasting compared to other Thai places

  • *****

Hungry while shopping downtown? Check this place out! Don't be fooled by the boring interior and small space. Easily one of the best ROAST DUCK FRIED RICE I've had anywhere. Quick service and friendly staff. Great spot for a quick and tasty meal in the city! Will definitely be back! A++

  • *****

I read someone else's review that the Shrimp Pad Thai was their favorite and that was exactly what I wanted to read. I tried it for myself and, amazing! Very friendly service. Also, I ordered my plate and it was ready before 5 minutes! Not to mention the serving was very generous, much bigger than a place I went to for Pad Thai last week. Definitely recommend.

  • *****

Taste is so good, price is reasonable.
This place became one of my favorite place. :-)
It just the condition of the restaurant wasn't so clean FOR ME (it could be very okay to other people). However, consider of price, I wouldn't expect the fancy condition anyway, as long as the food is tasty which was very good. So I would love to recommend this place :-)

  • *****

Place is crowded but service was prompt. Food pretty authentic. Real stuff. A bit pricy.

  • *****

This place had pretty tasty food. Quite a big menu to select from. It's definitely more of a casual spot.

For a yummy, quick and/or late night bite to eat, this place will certainly do the trick!

  • *****

After a night out my friends and I were craving Thai food (bit of an odd craving) so when we found out these guys were open till 3am we were over the moon. When we got here it was a bit dead but as soon as the bars nearby started to close, they were packed. I ordered the Thai green chicken curry - it was good. Not amazing but decent food for so late at night - I'll be back.

  • *****

This place is GOLD. I love the area, and this is a gem for me in North Beach, SF. I don't come to SF often, but when I do, I always stop here. The staff, the locals, the whole experience is worth it for me. Last night, I stopped in, and received the same experience I'm used to (food & service - incredible) - a continuous five stars from my wife and me.

  • *****

Solid Thai food for the price. I tried their fried rice and pad see ew. The fried rice was amazing. Not too oily. But the pad see ew was a bit too sweet for me. It's right in downtown which is pretty convenient. Also there was no wait :)

  • *****

I would give it 5 stars but it's their service is okay not the best but the food is actually good n comes fast

  • *****

You get what you pay for. Portions are alright. It's lil messy. It's quick. Don't expect anything amazing.

  • *****

Recommended to us by our hotel staff, this was our first spot we stopped once arriving from the airport. We asked for the house special and we were not disappointed. Number 17 under the noodle dishes was phenomenal, a great start to our weekend. Caution To those who can't not handle spicy. We ordered medium on the spicy scale and it was defiantly spicy.

  • *****

Today was the second time my mom took me here. I love the Thai Iced Tea. I really like the noodle soups and appetizers and food and everything. I got an order from the special order which was fried chicken with fried rice and veggies and a sauce that was sweet. I really liked it, that plate today tasted like home cooked meal that my mom makes. It was so good. I hope to try more plates and dishes and noodles and drinks and everything from the menu. Also very fast service and kind people here. :) :D

  • *****

Showed up win a group of 9 people and were seated and served promptly, we only waited 5 minutes even though it was super busy! The pad see ew was great and the Tom khan soup were delicious. The plates were big and not pricy. The staff was great, we had like 4 waiters. 10/10 would pad see ew again.

  • *****

I've been to many Thai food places but this is still number 1. Better than OSHA Thai which is a fancier and more expensive spot.

  • *****

Good good and good service. When I had an issue with my food someone bee kindly remedied the situation. Would recommend the noodles

  • *****

Pretty pleased with our visit. The Pad See Ew noodles were very tasty. We ordered a side dish (some fried bean curd I think) which was less inspired however. I will probably stick with the noodles when I come here. Love the long opening hours too.

  • *****

The food was delicious ! I ordered some tea and the spicy cashew chicken plate. Was not disappointed at all! They stay open really late which is good. The place looks clean, customers can see their food being prepared and it's clear that the cooks take their time to properly prepare the meals; they're clean about it as well. Would love to come back to this place on my next visit to SF !

  • *****

Relatively reasonably priced, fast, tasty food. As an SF resident, I definitely would recommend to other residents to check this place out after a long tiring day of shopping around downtown. Not a "must-see" if you are a tourist though. You get seated immediately and the service is very attentive and swift. There most likely will not be parking around the area though, I mean, it is Union Square. Would probably check out again if I am in the area.

  • *****

Late night order lived up to the hype of the reviews. Yum yum. It was so good I would go back and dine in during the day when I'm in San Francisco again.

  • *****

Just left King of Thai Noodles and it was absolutely delicious! I ordered the pad thai and my mom ordered the thai style fried rice with shrimp. Just a few minutes later, we received our dishes and they both looked and tasted like they were made with fresh ingredients. I would definitely come back and recommend to others.

  • *****

Came here around 1 a.m. after a night out with friends. Ordered the #1 Beef Spoup and #24 Larb with Pork and Sticky Rice medium spicyness. Food came out fast and portions were good. Server was attentive, checked in on us, and refill our waters. Food was flavorful and overall service great.

  • *****

Pros: This should be your go to dining spot if you're super hungry and tired after a long day of shopping. The service is attentive with seating you quickly and food arrives ridiculously fast. I've been here twice and got seated upstairs for a large party and the service is fine. They have a person up there to keep watch if you need anything. Portion size and price is pretty decent considering it is located in the heart of downtown toursity shopping area.

Cons: Don't expect to find street parking around the area but plenty of parking garages nearby. Don't expect anything fancy here, just a basic addition to the restaurant chain.

Ordered: Shrimp Pad Thai ($10), Pad See Ew ($9.50)

Would I recommend: Yes, easy and fast place to go to if you're tired from a long day of shopping and want a quick hot good quality meal. Not a must try if you're a tourist.

  • *****

I love the new location. The service isn't always on the ball, but the food was pretty great.

One of the better Tom Yum soups I've had - full of fresh vegetables and delicious flavour. The fish cake looked amazing, and I regretted not ordering it. The chicken satay was as classic as it gets.

The eggplant curry was pretty decent, too!

I'd definitely go back and check it out again.

  • *****

Total hole-in-the-wall in a place where you wouldn't expect one to be -- right among all of the fancy Union Square shops and restaurants. The food is great and that's what matters. You don't come here for the decor.

  • *****

    Great value for your money
One of the best fast food places to eat in town. Their thai food is so good and they just upgrated the restaurant, it's really clean and the service is so fast. Great thai ice tea.

  • *****

    Good stop in Downtown
King Of Thai never disappoints me. It is cheap and good. The restaurant is covered in purple paint. The service is not all that great and the restaurant can get pretty crowded. Do not come in here looking for a "nice and clean" restaurant. This place serves good Thai food period. They only accept CASH so make sure you bring cash. With all other King of Thais, I really really like the pad-see-ew and the fried chicken over fried rice. The tom yum soup is also good, but sometimes it can be made a little too sour. Come here if you happen to be in downtown and want some cheap eats. The parking is not worth it otherwise.

  • *****

    King-Thai lives up to name
This is one of the tastiest Thai restaurants around. Located near the Bart station, a very short walk way, it's usually packed place but waits are never too long. I'd highly recommend the pad-thai or fried chicken and friend rice dish, both are filling and there's more than enough food to split if you go with another person (I brought my food home and my friend's because she didn't finish it all). The servers are friendly and the inside seating is pretty good though if you go with a large party you'll probably have to sit at different tables. One thing to watch out for is they don't take credit, only cash, so be sure you have an extra 20 on you so you don't forget. Prices are very affordable so don't be scared off because the food is well worth what you pay. Overall highly recommended!

  • *****

    Call the hygiene inspection service
Yesterday I went to King of Thai Noodle. \r
I order a chicken noodle soup, start eating my soup, so far so good.. Then right under the noodles I found a piece of tissue, I even wonder if that was TP... That is so cliche I know but the soup

  • *****

We had the egg rolls. They were excellent. The vegetable soup was good. The pad see ew was good, especially with their chili sauce added to it. The pad Thai was great and the tofu was cooked perfectly b

  • *****

Went here to eat on a Saturday evening about 4:30. Crowded but not much of a wait, maybe 5 minutes for a table to clear in the back. The staff are always very busy running back and forth but efficient and friendly.
We had noodle soup and egg rolls. I had the beef noodle soup and the wife had the pork noodle soup. About $10.00 per bowl. Along with the egg rolls, a Thai Ice Tea and Singha beer, it ran about $35,00. Food was good, service good but unfortunately they did not have fried bananas for dessert. The later you come, the more crowded it gets with a line of people standing outside when we left. ]
    Recommend that you arrive early.

  • *****

This place is open late which means this is our go to spot after a night of clubbing. I like that they are so nice even when we are intoxicated. The food is decent and the service is really fast. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area and its late and you're hungry!!!

PS. they don't serve alcohol at 2AM?

  • *****

Food tastes good. Especially the roasted duck noodle soup. But a little bit too salty (too much MSG?).

  • *****

The BF and I were downtown and had a hankering for Thai food. We walked to our favorite spot, Bangkok Thai, and found out they were closed, so we headed over to King of Thai.

I have to say, nothing can compare to Bangkok Thai for their value and taste, but this is a good alternative. Their dishes are around $2-3 more expensive, but the BF's duck noodle soup had good flavor and plenty of noodles. My pad thai came out piping hot and tasted great with extra peanuts and chili sauce.

  • *****

Great late night Thai food. The bf and I arrived in Union Square after a late flight from LAX around 11pm, and this place was still packed. Luckily the service is speedy and food comes out fast, so we were able to grab a table within 5-10 minutes. We got a fried rice dish, pad see ew, and tom yum soup. Everything was delicious and super flavorful. They have boat noodles which I'm sure is just as good as everything else. I would definitely return!

  • *****

This place is decent overall for the price you pay. Its usually not so busy so you get seated quickly. The staff is nice and trys to check on your table, give em a break when they forget...their dealing with worldwide people everyday in the busiest location in the city.

The food always good and doesnt feel like they under serve or over serve you. Sometimes the food can be a bit greasy, depending on the hour this can increase.

I tried all different plates in the menu here before from fried rice, noodles, soups and the appetizer. You shouldnt be disappointed and their spicy is spicy which i always like about this place.

This is why it gets Five star. It meets standard considering all above.

  • *****

Great place to eat late at night. Dishes taste on the sweet side almost in Bangkok. Crowd sometime and will not get good service. They ran out of Thai tea on me last time..... Price is over $10 so is not my regular restaurant, except late at night.

  • *****

We were walking out of the pub after a few pints and moderately hungry when we were accosted by a few people passing out flyers. Looking at the menu and deciding noodles were a good option (especially since they promised that grandma was back in the kitchen), decided to stop in.

The menu is pretty typical, nothing really popped as too quirky or different. Decided on a bowl of Tom Yum and a noodle dish.

The food was solid and the people super nice. Not extra fancy, but a great stop with some family and friends for a bite.

  • *****

Disclaimer: I may have been a little (okay.. pretty) drunk when I dined here, but I would like to think that I still have standards when intoxicated!

Wanting to grab a bite in the city before heading back home (East Bay/South Bay), my friends and I stumbled upon King of Thai Noodle House on Yelp. Hallelujah! Surprisingly, the place was half full at 2am. I guess all the drunk people had the same idea. We were seated right away and given ample time to pick what we wanted to eat.

    - Pad Kee Mao: SO GOOD. I thought it was so delicious that I asked my friend if the dish was good cause I was drunk or if it was actually THAT good. He said the latter. I can trust him, right?
    - Crab Fried Rice: I only had a couple of bites of this dish, but I thought it was just okay. The crab pieces were flavorful though!

Service was friendly and fast, and our water cups were always filled. This ain't a bad place to get your drunchies late at night!

  • *****

Very nice food. We had pad Thai and salad. The food was served in less than 5 mins. Location is perfect, right next to Sketcher shop.

  • *****

I enjoy eating at King of Thai. The soups are magnificent. Love their noodles and rice.
The Servers are excellent people, they welcome you with a pleasant smile and sincere welcome.
Congratulations to King of Thai !!!

  • *****

    Amazing restaurant with amazing food!!!
Their service is good, they are very nice people. If you come here I highly recommend trying the dish of curry, just amazing !!!
Everyone can afford to eat there. The dishes come fast and it's not expensive.

One day I was craving for some thai food, and had planned to go to Bangkok near Union Square, but it was open that day, and my friend had told me that not far from where we were, existed the King of Thai Noodle House. It felt like seeing a light house for a hopeless crew.

Two floors = plenty of seats = minimal wait time. We were seated less than 3min during dinner time. I asked the waiter, 'what's good? ', '17' she said, telling me this magic number in a confident way. So I listened. and it was very good! Was slightly sweeter than I had hoped.

Reasonably priced for such a touristy location.

  • *****

    It's 12 a.m.
    Friday night/Saturday morning.

I should be doing this: youtube.com/watch?v=kfVs

    but I'm jet-lagged.
    Most importantly, I'm hungry.
    ...and I want Thai.

Did I just say I wanted a nice, quiet meal in Downtown? On a WEEKEND NIGHT? Yeah. You know I'm really hungry if I choose food over drinks.

So I walk in, it's nice and uncrowded and looks like a Chinese noodle shop setting. Cool. Waiter passes me the menu, I pass it back to her. "Just a Pad Thai, puhlees."

Get my pad thai. Um, can you say high on bean sprouts? And fresh, scrumptious fried tofu. Good texture but maybe a little overdone with the sauce.

Service was eh...slow and they never greeted us out. Good pricing and definitely a perfect hungover spot, especially with the bars and clubs around.

  • *****

Good location. A lot of delicious food. But I'm not sure that it's true Thai food.. hope so) I'm here second time and both of them I'm ok about service and food. Today I tryed egg roll. It's soooooo good. Highly recommend it. And..boys,don't forget about beautiful girls! I saw them here!!!

  • *****

I always used to come here as a child and eat duck in rice with my mom. It was my favorite dish whenever we'd come to the city to shop.

  • *****

Living across the street ... it is one of my FAVORITES for quick eats ! I love the duck noodle soup! The fact that you can choose what type of noodle you want for each dish is great! The place is quite loud and busy busy busy. They are not known for "friendliness" but are efficient and also deliver locally!
The food is fresh, wholesome, and very inexpensive.

The last time I was In San Francisco I was treated to one of the BEST Thai meals I have had since my visits to Thailand. The food at King of Thai Noodle House always tastes fresh with the proper combination of spices and basil. After eating at this restaurant the first time I made it my mission to take my Thai wife there to get her impression of the food the next time I returned to SF.

This past week I traveled back to SF with my wife in tow and I was determined to fulfill my mission. We returned to King of Thai Noodle House and we were also joined by my buddy Stuart who originally turned me on to this place. We ordered Pumpkin Curry, Kao Gra Prow, Sea with Egg Noodles and Gravy and 3 sides of white rice. The food came out of the kitchen within 15 minutes. The quality and taste were GREAT as I remember.
As a side bar since I have travelled through Thailand with my wife and have had many different types of rice of all constancies. We felt the quality and consistency of the rice was excellent (it comes to you on your plate in the shape of a heart) but if they gave patrons the choice of Jasmine rice it would make the dining experience totally superb! If you like Thai food I recommend this place highly. Prices are Moderate, Seating is abundant and it is not a shirt and tie, napkin in your lap type place.

Our friend recommended the Duck Noodle Soup. So we only got that... this soup was perfect for the morning after a hang over...
You can taste the roasted duck flavor in the soup. I didnt give it 5 stars because it was a bit sweet. Its a huge bowl for 9 bucks. 2 people can share it. We got here right when it open and it filled up quickly.
The noodles were good and they added chinese broccoli in it too and topped off with cilantro.
    I recommend this place. Yum!

  • *****

This place is famous for a reason. They have every Thai food you can think of for a very good deal with enormous food portions! The ambiance is not there but if you want to have the best Thai food in San Francisco, this it it! Despite this place looking like an old canteen everything else was top notch! Very happy customer!

  • *****

I love this place. Well worth the wait in line at lunchtime. Great food and super friendly staff. I think I could live off the Pad Thai.

  • *****

I'll have to say this. This place was crazy packed when I got in here. I thought to myself, it's right next to Powell, it's the holidays, and it's Thai food. Well that's true for everything. But damn the other locations are just as packed and "line out the doorish". So that has to tell you something about this place. It's pretty damn good. With all of those factors in mind, it's a great spot to eat near the HIGHLY "4 dollar sign" Union Square. Come eat up folks. It won't break your bank!

  • *****

This place always gets busy. We just happened to luck out on one of the off times.

    Order
    ---
    Papaya salad
-large enough salad for two. Could be made spicier to your liking with a simple addition of chili pepper flakes.

    Pad Kee Mao
-was pretty good. A wetter version of Pad See Ew so it was a nice change of pace.

    Duck w red curry
-this was ok. Usually fill this spot with some sort of curry. It really didn't stand out.

  • *****

This spot was so good!!! Was open till 3am it was 1am when I went. That first of sold me. Second of all it was still packed at 1am! Great flavors! Good size portions! I will Defiantly be back!

  • *****

Good location - near our hotel, great food, speedy service, open late, a little too pricey, but what do you expect?!...it's near Union Square haha. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the Union Square area and looking to eat some good pho!

  • *****

I like the pad thai here. Its not a five star hotel, but for what you pay the food and service are decent!

  • *****

I like their duck noodle soup.

Yes it's fatty. Yes it's salty. But there's something addicting about it.

Maybe that's why horses like salt licks.

I like how you can choose your noodles.

    I like the fast service.

I like how it's a decent portion for the price.

If I was a tourist I would love this place.

Since I'm not a tourist I simply like this place.

  • *****

Delicious food & fast service! We usually get things like vegetarian pad see ew, shrimp pad thai, duck noodle soup, or curry. Unlike other thai restaurants, this place is never a hit or miss. Consistently good food everytime!

This is my SPOT! Undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in all of SF.

Don't leave without trying the roasted duck soup with golden egg noodles. I always wonder how they make that broth because it is magic in your mouth. I drink that stuff to the last drop. And that duck -how do they caramelized that skin so well!

Service is so good that it nears becoming a negative. If you hold a menu in your hand there will be (at least) 3 different waiters asking you if you've ordered. They're all so genuinely nice though and really care about you liking the food.

I came to this city for mind-blowing astronomical experiences and that's exactly what I get each time I come here.

Tl ;Dr: crazy affordable (rarely over 10 dollars), the BEST tasting noodle shop in SF, excellent service, and open until AM.

Oh and there's a tv for you soccer fanatics.

  • *****

Best noodle house on the West Coast! Atmosphere and service have some to be desired but food is unbelievable. Highly recommend the beef noodle soup!

  • *****

Yummy noodles! Very authentic restaurant. Went here with some Thai friends and they suggested some things that I should order. I got a thin slices pork soup with vermicelli noodles. Super yum. One of my friends got the seafood soup with flat rice noodle and that was incredible! I kind Of with i has gotten that soup. But maybe next time.

Service was decent. Lots of seating. We got seated in a semiprivate alcove in the back because we had large group. They also have upstairs room.

    Prices were affordable.

Good rainy day food. Or if you want something tasty and cheap.

Good food and good service. Got our order less than 10 mins. Love their roast duck fried rice.

  • *****

    Great spot!

Pros - Good location, great tasting food, generous portions, fast service, affordable food & late hours.

Cons - not the biggest selection of vegetarian options, waitress wasn't too proficient in English, temperature cold because doors needed to be kept open for "ventilation".

  • *****

Really enjoyed the food here. There was no wait for a table, so we were seated immediately. My wife visited the restaurant back in February and could not wait to return. We were seated upstairs. It was a little dark and slightly small but it works. The wait was minimal. My wife ordered the Beef Ball soup. It's a large bowl of soup with vegetables and beef. Great meal choice if you want to warm up or want something filling to eat. I was able to sample some before my wife spiced it to her liking. (She's Thai). I had one of my favorite Thai dishes, Pad-See-Ewe. Nice size portion. We also had the spring rolls as an appetizer. Our server kept our drinks filled which was cool. Will definitely return.

    The good:
-I had the Chicken Pad See Ew and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly and awesome flavor.
-Despite the place was packed my food came out in under 10 minutes.

    The bad:
-I came to eat here by myself and when I told the man working there "Party of 1" he said "Ok, you need to wait." He then sat a party of TEN people who were behind me in line, then a party of three people that were behind that group. Finally he came back up and then pointed to a single chair against the wall and said "Sit over there". It was rude in my opinion.

always my go to Thai food in San Francisco. the one on Clement street location is better but hey food is the same! it's great!

  • *****

Decided to try this place during a recent trip in the holiday season. Very efficient and quick service. Food tasted a bit different most likely because its actually authentic. This place is worth trying if you are in a hurry and want to try something cost effective right in the heart of SF. Dont worry about the long lines, it actually moves fast.

  • *****

This is one of my favorite restaurants in SF! After a day of shopping in Union Square, we just happened to see this spot on the walk home and decided to check it out.

For starters the service at this place was top notch. I drink a lot of water and my cup was never empty. Furthermore, the time it took from being seated to having our meal was maybe 10 minutes, so there is extremely fast service!

The food was also amazing. I ordered a pork and fishball noodle soup and it was amazing. The portion was massive! I usually don't get too full from restaurant meals, but this noodle bowl did the trick. I had a really hard time finishing off the last few bites. Also, the soup was really proportional in terms of the meat and noodles. My girlfriend ordered the pad Thai. Unlike me she doesn't eat a whole lot but this place was so delicious that she also finished her meal!

This was an awesome place near Union Square that we will definitely be coming back to!

  • *****

These are the dishes the restaurant does well: any fried rice dishes, and the roast duck noodle soup is really great. Prices are affordable. Service has always been really nice here.

  • *****

My top competitor for SF Best Thai Food. The other one is Chabaa. I like King Thai's Pad Thai, the service was amazingly quick, place is crowded most of the time, the food tasted great, I like the bean sprouts crispy. Will come back for more for sure!!

  • *****

This place is always super busy & full of people, but somehow that's not a problem at all! They are open super late too so that's great. They are FAST, like...insanely fast. Tried the pumpkin chicken curry & another noodle dish I can't think of the name for. It was the big flat noodles w Chinese broccoli, egg, and chicken. DELICIOUS! Everything was great & they were very attentive.

  • *****

Great food, good quantity for a solid price (by San Francisco standards). Plenty of room for single diners. Food always comes fast, this is especially nice when getting takeout.

  • *****

After coming across several thau restaurants this was the only one that was full. Luckily we were seated quickly. After we were seated it started to get more busy. I ordered my usual, chichen pad Thai and Tom Kha Gai, hot but not Thai hot. Pad Thai was great on spicy level but wasn't on point flavor consistency wise. It wasn't bad, I've had worse but something was definitely missing. The tom Kha Gai was great! Lots of chicken and mushrooms but that was it. Few Bay leaves but no other veggies. Had to add chili flakes to add spicy. One friend ordered seafood soup and also asked for mild and had to add to it as it was flavorless. Other friend ordered garlic chicken it was really good but waiter forgot to put in order. We felt a bit rushed to finish our meal but despite it all I would return.

  • *****

It's a good place to eat .. The food is good and it's really cheap
the stuff there are really friendly and nice

But it's really hot there.. It was freezing outside and we were sweating inside :)

  • *****

this place wasnt fancy but they are good, and great for big parties in the upstairs room. Regular quality and conveniently located near shopping. Very reasonably priced

  • *****

Since moving to the city, my bf and I have probably eaten at this restaurant the most # of times. Service is quick, portions are large, and food is good. It's more of a 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up since they also open late. It's been a savior for us during those late nights after clubbing or being out.

My favorite here is the pad thai and my bf really likes the lord noodles. We've also tried their eggplant chicken rice dish and seafood noodle soup. I think the stir fried noodles still taste better.

The most surprising things I recently discovered is that they have an upstairs dining space, so the wait is always not bad even though it's always packed. :)

  • *****

My and my son's Favorite eating place in San Francisco, nice staff and original taste of the food

  • *****

Great food, fast service and reliable consistency. I really love this place and its pad Thai is the best that I have ever had. The pad Thai is flavourful but overwhelmingly sweet. The heat, sourness and sweetness are balanced really well! Highly recommended!

  • *****

If you're hungry, and don't want to spend a fortune in Union Square, then this is a great spot. However, the amount of people that are herded through this place will make your head spin. No one is rude about hurrying you along, but your food will come FAST, your water glasses will stay full, but lingering too long to discuss the philosophical depth and irony of your fortune cookie might entice some encouragement to "move along" by the waitstaff.*Evil glares may be awarded by impatient unseated patrons hanging out at at the entrance. This haste makes the experience, cleanliness, and ambiance a little rough around the edges, but hey, I wouldn't strike a star off of five for it. You might...but not me.

  • *****

I used to work at the Westfield on Market so this place was my go to spot whenever I needed a good bowl of noodles. I'm not a huge fan of Thai food but their soups are soooo good! The place is bigger than it looks although I feel like their upstairs seatings got a bit smaller than the last time I was there. The female servers are very sweet and attentive..the guy that usually greets and seats you never smiles but I think that's just his personality so I don't really care.

I always get their Tom Yum (spicy with egg noodles) and it never disappoints. Their vegetarian fried rolls are delish! Friend enjoyed his duck fried rice although it looked like it was 95% rice and hardly any duck meat.

The only downside is that they for sure use MSG bc their portions are pretty big and I never end up feeling quite full and sometimes I'll feel a bit dehydrated. But if that doesn't bother you def check it out..they have a pretty extensive menu. If you're a health freak omg I can't stand preservatives GMO blah blah blah, then this ain't your joint

  • *****

TRY THE GUAY TIAW LORD! Sooooo tasty. It's thick white & wide noodles topped with tofu, shrimp, minced pork, eggs, soy sauce, coriander, peppers, etc. and it's very filling and delicious! Very attentive and friendly service, even at 3AM!! Much better than just a drunk food fix. Thanks, King of Thai!

  • *****

Amazing spicy food and noodles, if you are cravings for it!! My go to place for late night grub.

  • *****

    Food is excellent!

Ya'll know how I do it. I don't mess around, I say it how it is. I had the garlic chicken with white rice, but it's called some kind of authentic Thai name here that I cannot produce. Sunni had a soup and $23 bucks later we were moving on to explore Union Square. What a surprise how many folks we out onm thanksgiving ! Amazing truly in this sanctuary city that so many are without family lol. We came to get away for a few days, cause we don't eat turkey and frankly should become vegetarians after the Carl's Jr we had while in traffic coming here from L.A.

That said, this is a walk in place with single file waiting in line lol before you're seated. Everybody is really nice and definitely authentic when it comes to the Thai experience. I know my Thai food and this place is excellent. I'm happy the girl at our fancy hotel suggested this joint.

Btw, parking ? Don't try your luck. Just walk the hills and lose some weight. Our hotel has $52 bucks per night plus 14% tax.....trust me I will write a review on that on our last evening here to ensure they don't scratch up my Phantom.

  • *****

While I can't always depend on getting seated right away due to the long line of customers, I can definitely depend on the yumminess of the Sliced Roast Duck in red curry sauce. It's comfort food after a day of walking around the City.

  • *****

I was introduced by this place from a family friend and my first visit was extremely busy! This is the first Thai food place I ever had in San Francisco. I give this place a 9.5/10. Food taste great, portion is perfect, the menu needs a little cleaning or a menu upgrade, opens late, and could use a better service in organizing table availability but other than that I am a returning customer!

  • *****

Stopped for a late lunch and found this place packed with locals which is always a good sign. The hostess promptly greeted and found me a seat at the counter along the wall. A quick look at the menu confirmed my fav Pad See Ew was available here. Moments later my order was placed and drink served.

Seemed to take longer than I thought it should but my dish showed up and proved to be worth the wait however imperceptibly long or not the actual wait was. First impressions were the massive portion and the use of all parts of the broccoli plant in the dish. Had I not been staying at a hotel, I would of easily been able to eat half, feel full and take the rest home for another meal. Maybe I have not been around enough but I have always seen this dish served with primarily the florets of broccoli but this rendition had mostly stems and leaves. Either way is fine by me and just an observation.

Mostly importantly the flavors in this dish were phenomenal. All the ingredients had a freshness and lightness to it that contributed to the overall experience. There was also a hint of sweetness in the sauce I have not noticed in the other Pad See Ew I have tried over the years. I liked it!

  • *****

Stopped in a Saturday night around 10. We were promptly greeted and seated. We had the chicken satay which was ok with the thinner pieces being very dry and chewy. Also had the #30, a breaded chicken over fried rice dish that was very good.

Considering the intended positioning it was a bit of a stretch for the 4th star.

  • *****

I have been coming here for years. Food is always excellent. Food is served hot and portion sizes are large. Egg Rolls are delicious! Chicken Noodle Soup with Flat Rice Noodles is piping hot and full of chicken. Pad Thai is rich in flavor. The combination of chicken, egg and peanuts with bean sprouts and tofu always hits the spot.

  • *****

Delicious home style Thai food. The prices were a bargain. The restaurant is a little dirty on the walls. But you can see the kitchen and that was clean. Great food. Not the best dining atmosphere.

  • *****

Their lard nar and beef noodle soups are delish and full of flavor. I had my doubts based on the location, but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is friendly and you usually don't have to wait very long, even during the lunchtime rush. Good prices, good value.

  • *****

Very good food here, especially Pad Thai. Fast and friendly service. The only things I don't like it that the place is so small, it's hard to move when the place is packed.

  • *****

My roommate was craving for Thai dishes and we decided to give King of Thai a try...
It was one of the best decision we've made so far!!

She ordered Pad Siuw Beef and I ordered Pad Thai, both came less than 10 mins after we placed our order. The place was packed but the service was fast!! The food was delicious and hot and we wanted more.. Will definitely come back here for a fast and comfort Thai food!!

  • *****

I've eaten a few meals here, both dinner and lunch. Each time was happy with the food & service.

    Pad Thai = Great

Pad Kee Mow (Thai chow fun) w/ Beef = Great

Servers are fast & efficient (but not so cheerful).

  • *****

Excellent Thai noodle shop close to Union Square. Two people in our party - one had roasted duck soup with egg noodles, the other chose wonton soup with added egg noodles. The soups plus hot tea came to $30. Both meals were extremely filling and delicious. It is very casual there, no lah-di-dah, but you won't go away hungry. Plus the hot soup will warm you to your toes on a chilly night. Highly recommend!

  • *****

Cheap, fast and delicious. Had the bbq pork and won ton noodle soup. It was very yum! :) satisfied with the service, they were attentive and friendly. Would come here for affordable and yummy eats!

  • *****

Good food, decent price. A plate of noodles with veggies and tofu was $12. Fast service, no frills. Great place to go when you're starving and want something fast and cheap.

  • *****

Great place to go to if you are looking for cheap eats in union square. I like the red bean broth seafood soup with egg noodles. The wonton soup was also tasty

  • *****

This place is really awesome. I came here with a group of four and we were seated immediately. We ordered the red and yellow curries and the vegetarian of Thai was amazing. The portions were also very generous and pretty affordable compared to other Thai places I have been. Definitely would recommend this place!

  • *****

I stopped in on recommendation from my acupunturist. I got the duck noodle soup, with added wonton. I like that you can select the noodle you prefer (i got rice). The broth was very flavorful and was just perfect for a rainy cloudy day. it really warms the soul.

  • *****

Well I went there and the waitress got the order correctly but the kitchen made a mistake.
My mom can't eat eggs and they put eggs in it and they took back and never bought a new one out and tried to charge me for it. So once we got it straight I paid for soda and what we did eat.
As I was leaving I man was leaving the Restraunt and heard me telling my mom about the situation and I am going to assume he was the owner.
GREAT guy he refunded me all my money spoke to me very politely and made me understand that my happiness was more important than the money.
    Now that's customer service!
I recommend any one to try this place because they do care how you feel.
And I am African American and that's a plus for a Asian place they don't discriminate they are all about service!!
    Thumbs up to this place!!

  • *****

My all time favorite "combination beef noodle soup" and "pad thai with minced beef" and also " yen ta fo (no.9) spicy" is unbeatable!.

Tips : don't order Tom yum koong because you think it's the only thai dish you've ever known. This place is not for tom yum koong. Go for something else and you'll love it like i do!

  • *****

This use to be my lunch spot during work hours, I've been here so many times; there are many great things about this place with the exception of one thing, their soup bowls. I've tried the seafood soup, and the wonton, they are super bland! I've also tried the Beef combo and it was actually the opposite, and very sweet.
Despite all that, if you stay away from the soup bowls you will come to realize that this place is well worth the visit. Its fast, its affordable, it stays open late (Great for post happy hour events), but most importantly all their dry platters are actually great!

I normally write lengthy reviews but this time, just take my word for it.

  • *****

    Roast duck noodle good
    Pineapple fried rice above average
    Good service
    Could use a remodel

  • *****

It is OK. Food price and portion are reasonable regarding it is located around union square. Service is good as well.

  • *****

Best thai restaurant recommended by locals in the area. We stopped by after a day of shopping. This place was packed. All the seats upstairs and main floor were taken. Luckily we were seated right in the front. We ordered the duck soup with clear noodles and beef pad see ew. Both were delicious. The duck soup had the strong broth that was not too salty. Pad see ew had the nice peanut sauce and not too greasy. I would recommend this place for the affordable pricing, strong flavors and good food. But the service here needs some work. I saw a lot of carry out folks upset with long and incorrect orders. It took 25 minutes to get our 2nd entree. With the amount of waitresses I would think people would be served quickly, but expect an extra 20-30 minute wait to your order.

*This review is written by a visitor, not a local.

I was at the bar across the street late into the night and happened to make my way in after a recommendation from friends. They cooked the chicken Pad Thai in 10 minutes flat and it was hot and delicious. The portion was good for a single serving. Was it the best Pad Thai I've had in my life? Let's just say it was the best Pad Thai I've had in my life approaching 2am, but on that note it was still pretty friggin' good.

    PROS:
Price point, my dish came to $10.90
    Open until 2am
They speak Thai in house (growing up, my mom would use this as a testament to their authenticity- I'll leave this here for anyone who follows suit)
Food was beautifully presented and delicious
Cashier made sure I had plenty of napkins and silverware to enjoy my meal

    CONS:
Not open 24/7 (hey, girl's gotta eat)

  • *****

Decent noodle place. I'd rate it 8/10. They don't have rice for some reason, but I think they make all their noodles by hand, which turn out to be texturally delicious.

I got the master green & tofu noodle soup since I don't like the taste of meat. It came with a big helping of what I believe to be kale. I added a few spoonfuls of their spicy sauce to it, as I have a preference for the tongue dancers. Unfortunately, it didn't come with much more than kale, noodles, and tofu. What I got was yummy, however, I would have enjoyed an addition of mushrooms.

Decent decor and friendly service. Good tea too!

We arrived into SF late a night and were walking around our hotel looking for something to eat and we found this gem. If you like Thai food this is a must try. The food, staff, and service are great

  • *****

I've been coming here since I was in high school. There's usually a line, but I've never waited longer than 8 minutes. It's a great place to go with friends as the serving sizes are great to share. PSA to all Curry lovers I would recommend the yellow curry! sooo good

  • *****

I like that they're open late! Perfect for when you're out drinking and you get hungry. Roast duck noodle soup with rice noodles is my go to!

  • *****

Looking for food late night? Whether you are a tourist or local, this was the place to be! Super packed on a Saturday night. It was about 10 pm and I wanted food to go to eat in my hotel room. It was about a 7 minute walk for me to get there, I phoned my order just before I left and my food was ready when I arrived.

I ordered the Thai fried rice with beef and the pad Thai. The pad Thai was really good, and it came with shrimp. The friend rice would have probably been better fresh, but it was in a closed container and by the time I got back it was a bit mushy. Then they could have been more generous with the beef... but I'm not complaining. Not the best Thai food in the world, but this place will definitely do the job when you're hungry and looking for a decent quick bite late night.

  • *****

When your looking for Thai restaurant something that will not kick your pocket like most restaurants in San Francisco this is the SPOT food is delicious
Served right away the servers doing a magnificent job as soon as you are done the dish disappears very friendly
So button line great restaurant :)

  • *****

Well... Kin Khao down the street ruined my reservation for 8 so our dinner group was forced to march down the street and eat here.

What I love about the King of Thai Noodle is that it doesn't pretend to be what it's not. It's reasonably priced Thai food that's pretty tasty. No bullsh*t. No fancy pants wall scrolls or elephant statues. Just good food at good prices.

  • *****

This place has hands down the best Pad Thai I've ever tried - it's really flavorful and a good portion. The other dishes they have I'm not so sure about but I highly recommend trying their Pad Thai if you ever come here. Also I've been here twice and the 2nd time I came we literally ordered and got our food in what felt like just minutes it was crazy fast.

  • *****

Staff was friendly and fast. The pad see ew I had was pretty tasty. Go here if you want something uncomplicated but good!

  • *****

I was hungry and wanted lunch and came upon this place. Some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten. It was lunch but very delicious. I give it five stars for lunch

  • *****

Nice, authentic food, late night hours, and central downtown location. My Thai wife really likes this place - me too!

  • *****

King of Thai has a nice menu for Thai food. I have been to two other locations. This one is kind of cramped. I sat upstairs. I got the green curry with chicken and rice. I liked it. The presentation was not as nice as Osha Thai per se.

  • *****

    Nice place, staff are great
We came here on Friday night it was really crowded but we were seated fast, food served fast
We ordered #15 and #16 and we really enjoyed it

  • *****

The perfect late night meal after drinking....one beer.

Pad See Ew - My go to dish when dining at Thai restaurants. Huge portion, great flavor

We were seated upstairs in a smaller, secluded area which sounds horrible but it really wasn't. They were playing music videos from the 90's throwing it back to BSB, Usher, and Savage Garden days. Each song that came on made me want to stay longer.

    Friendly staff

  • *****

This is a wonderfully authentic Thai restaurant offering fresh and delicious dishes. The staff were friendly, ample room, and very clean. I ordered Ka Pra Krow with ground chicken (spicy level 4) and the shrimp Pad Thai with rice. Yummy for my tummy!!!! I have been impressed with San Francisco's culinary delights that are located within walking distance to my hotel.

Holy crap, that's a lot of reviews. So, this place has been around for a while and it was very busy the Sunday night that I went. The decor is very simple and straightforward, you really just go, eat and leave, it's not much for chit chatting. I appreciate that the owner and the staff are Thai, I believe the people of the country should represent the restaurant. Overall, I was happy with my meal, was it 100% authentic? Of course not, but the restaurant is not catering to Thai people, the night I visited, it was basically a room full of non Asians in the dining room. The other nice thing about this place is the very affordable pricing and the late night hours.

    The food:

Rad Nar- Thai style gravy sauce with Chinese broccoli with choice of meat served over stir fried flat rice noodle. I will admit, I was a skeptic but the flavors totally worked. The flavor does come off a tad sweet but the table side condiments helped balance out the flavor. The pork was standard strips of pork but the noodles had a nice char from the wok. The char adds a nice flavor that a lot of places miss out on.

Kai Gra Prow- sauted choice of meat with bell pepper, Thai chili and basil served over steamed rice. This is kinda a staple dish in Thailand but the version here was just OK, the sweetness on this one bothered me. I noticed it was too sweet from the very first bite. The fried egg addition was a nice addition.

From the signs on the front door expectations are high... this place has gotten some great reviews over the years and all those stickers on the door are their bragging rights.

Its a great place to grab some late night eats. Late night doesn't have to be greasy or undignified stuffing your face with some reheated $3 pizza by the slice... you can come here.

Its a nice crowd given the odd late open till 2am hours. There are a bunch of these - or I should say at least a few. It makes it seem a bit less special knowing that - maybe that is just me?

Tastes great. For the price a good value. Maybe don't go far out of your way to go here but if your in the area at a spot drop by here for your midnight munchies.

  • *****

Prices and portions are pretty good, although not the cheapest or biggest ever. I had the pad see-ew, and it was solid - tasty with good portions of meat.

Service was super fast. We went on a weekday at around 7:30 PM, and were seated immediately. We placed our orders, and in the time it took us to switch tables (we were right next to the door which wouldn't close, and it was getting cold), our food had already started arriving.

The place isn't super flashy (we walked past it at first, then had to backtrack a bit before we found it), and the interior could definitely using a sprucing up, but nothing horrendously wrong.

Overall, it's a pretty nice place to get some delicious, comforting Thai food for a price that won't make you wince.

  • *****

Very authentic thai food n vibe, lots of Thai Americans guests. Definitely try their Thai milk tea!

  • *****

Hot damn best place we ate at while in SF. We always get the same thi food so we have a fair understanding of good pad thi and yellow curry. First note we got it right was how busy the place was at 4 on a Sunday. The pad thi is some of the best I've had, just a little on the sweet side but just right. The curry had a little kick but perfect for me. The prices are cheap and the service was good. Easily a 5+ especially considering we where in the most expensive part of SF. Go there!!

  • *****

A great place for thai food if youre looking for something quick, no frills, and dont mind a hole in the wall gem.

I ordered the pad thai. Tastes authentic and exactly how I would expect. Be sure to add the little green peppers for a nice kick!

The wait staff is also very attentive.

  • *****

On a super packed day, my group of 12 was seated immediately and provided friendly service. The food all came our super fast and was all very delicious. I ordered Larb Gai and it tasted super authentic. I'm very satisfied with this restaurant and will be bookmarking it to visit here again.

    Thank you!

  • *****

Yum! Great food and service. Took off a star as the restaurant is pretty small and thus crowded. So I ended up getting my food to go.

  • *****

I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!!! don't know how many times I've bragged about this gem to my friends.

Food 10/10 PAPAYA SALAD EVERYONE. GET AN ORDER OR MAYBE TWO! And maybe get a third one for to-go. I keep ravin' about it. Oh and Thai Iced Tea too!!

Noodles - 10/10 PAD THAI. Like seriously, how can you eat here without trying their famous dish?

    Service 10/10 friendly servers

Wait time is around 5-10 minutes, never waited longer than that which is a plus!

  • *****

Oh wow what a surprise! Went there twice after late nights (2am) and for a late night shop they had great food, service and cleanliness.

The portions are pretty big even for folks who're smashed and want to eat a shit ton. The place is pretty inexpensive. Pretty well lit.

Table service at 2am? I'll take it!

We ate here twice on my 3 day weekend visiting San Francisco. Tasty food and fast service. We were exploring late night and landed here. Place was full at almost 2 am on a Saturday morning. Tried the pad see ew, fried rice, and thom gai coconut soup. Would definitely come back when in town.

Awesome location, pretty good prices, fast service, open late, great location, and most importantly outstanding food. Oh, unlike the one on Clement, this one takes card!

I've been to the one on clement a bunch because it's near my house and open late. Pad thai is one of my mainstays there because it's so savory and good, and this location follows suit.

We also tried pineapple fried rice which might be my new favorite menu item. So savory and good and amazingly flavorful for what can sometimes be a bland dish. Lastly the panang curry - I've seldom met a panang curry I didn't like, and this one was no exception. But, it's not the star of the place, because you can get a lot of solid panang in SF. This pad thai and pineapple fried rice is pretty exceptional, though.

Prices are unfortunately noticeably higher than the one on clement :(. But it's in a prime area, and the food is good enough that I still didn't ding it a star. And, I'm sure I'll be back sometime after visiting one of the bars in the area.

Ordered the Beef Combination Soup with vermicelli on a chilly July evening for hubby who caught a cold after a bay cruise. It was 11:30 pm & having this place open was a godsend. I have always had the pad see ew on previous visits, but I was pleasantly surprised with the beef soup. It hit the spot!

This restaurant has been here for years! My default place to eat whenver I go shopping in Union Square. Prices has increased over the years but this chain restaurant in SF is still good. Located next to Macy's and it makes for a convenient locations to just relax and eat.

My recommendations are the Fried Chicken over Fried Rice and Pad See Ew.

I tried the crab fried rice and it was SO good. The crab meat was very fresh!! I was a little disappointed that they didn't have wonton soup without the dumplings. (I really just wanted the broth and veggies) But it was all delicious nonetheless!

I can't believe I have not reviewed this sooner. This is my go to Thai spot in the city. Come here for the soups and only the soups. They have the best Thai chicken noodle soup in the city. FIVE stars for the soup. The broth is clear and you get your choice of various noodles. I either go with the egg or flat rice noodle. The duck soup is also very good. Today I tried the duck over rice and sadly the skin was not crispy which is a must for me. I also tried the Pad Thai (I'm not a big Pad Thai person but I would say it was your typical Pad Thai) The most popular dish here is the fried chicken over rice and granted it is fried to perfection the chicken was dry on the inside. The desert I ordered was Fried Banana with coconut ice cream. I did not like it. Ice cream was ok.

I have been to this place zillion times and they have a full range menu from phos to Rice and noodles to standard Thai dishes .. Everything!

I love their Pad-see-ew, garlic chicken and rice from specials , fried rice , pho GA. But most of their items are good.

The service is quick and food is tasty and prices are cheap, what else do you want. It's not a fancy place but definitely something you should try if you like thai food and you are in the city.

This place is open till late, so go on , party hard and on your way back , stop at this place for dinner , you will not be disappointed..not at all!

This little "hole in the wall" was one of the best thai places i had in america. I actually came into the joint right after i got off the plane from Thailand and boy are they similar. I got the beef stew and it was absolutely delicious. the meat was well done but tender. the soup was full of flavor. The best part was they were quick. the atmosphere reminds me of a mom and pop shop. Things get sticky. In my opinion, the food was good, the service was good. I would definitely go back.

We really were looking forward to some authentic Thai or Asian food while in SF and this place did not disappoint. Had the Combination Beef Bowl, not to spicy but very flavorful. Huge serving.

First time eating Thai beef noodle soup. The broth is more on the sweeter side but it's quite unique. The beef is very tender. Good portion too. The duck fried rice, papaya salad, fried banana with ice cream were also good. Service was good.

Amazing pad se ew and spring rolls. You must come eat here. This place is very reasonably priced located in downtown San Francisco so if you're looking for a delicious meal at a reasonable price look no further.

When it comes to Thai food, San Francisco (and the entire Bay Area has you covered). And when I saw that "King Of Thai Noodle House" had well over 1,000 reviews, I knew this place had been covered by a ton of Yelpers, both from the area and those who are just visiting the city. To be honest, I was somewhat skeptical that many of my Yelp friends gave this place 3-stars. That, and this was in the heart of Union Square (aka a tourist trap).

Located directly on the corner of O'Farrell St. & Powell St., "King of Thai Noodle House" has to be in one of (if not) the most busiest areas of San Francisco. It surrounds a ton of major retailers, food establishments, and hotels. Parking here is virtually non-existent. However, there are numerous ways to get here via-public transportation including Muni, Bart, taxi, Uber, Lyft, bicycle, or by foot.

I came here on a whim with my lovely lady on a rainy Sunday afternoon in mid-April around 12:30pm. Reason being is that the brunch spot I went to prior to coming here didn't completely fill me up and I was still hungry. Fortunately with as busy as it was, we were both seated immediately. Keep in mind, this place does get packed! The inside is very no-frills so if you're expecting a fine dining Thai experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere. The entire restaurant has dark wooded pub-styled chairs as well as a back area for overflow seating.

Once seated, we were given menus and two iced waters. Since my lady was still full from eating brunch, I was the only one that ordered food here. I went with one of my favorite Thai dishes, their "Pad-See Ew" (which was around $11.50). This dish offers stir fried flat rice noodles with eggs, and Chinese broccoli in sweet black soy sauce. I chose chicken as my meat of choice.

As I mentioned, this place was very busy. Surprisingly, my entree was brought out to me in just under 10 minutes. My Pad-See Ew was delivered piping hot and the portion itself was very generous. Taste wise, I was very impressed with the overall flavor. Not too sweet and not too salty. They also didn't skimp on the seasoned chicken as this meal was so huge, my lady helped me finish eating the entire plate.

Its hard to give a true honest rating considering I only ate one item off their menu. But as I glanced at some of the neighboring tables as well as photos that many of my Yelp buddies posted, this food (for it being in a touristy area) was pretty decent. Service was above average, prices were very fair for this place being in Union Square, and the overall quality of the food itself met my expectations. My overall rating for "King of Thai Noodle House", a solid four stars.

Can't ever go wrong with this restaurant. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. The pad see ew is something I always used to order. Really good. I also love the rad nar. It's kind of similar to the pad see ew but more saucey and wet. But I'm sure anything you order here will be good.

My colleagues were raving about this place and while i usually try my hardest to avoid the tourist traps of Union Square I went along for lunch.

Clean and open seating with minimal decor. Don't take someone here that you are trying to impress. I ordered the stir fried veggies and tofu in bail sauce - very tasty. I loved it!!

The crispy chicken and duck were subpar especially for those two being their most famous dishes. Chicken was overcooked and dry while duck was not crispy.

Would stick to the rice plates, noodles, and soups!

The fried banana dessert was not worth it at all. It tasted like leftovers from a carnival stand! Would avoid that dish but the coconut ice cream was great.

I wold go back again if i was in the area, i did enjoy my meal but for the price I could choose so many other Thai restaurants in San Francisco with better food and ambiance. Lots of hype for this place but I personally wouldn't say it's a must try.

Best Paid Thai in San Francisco
Consistent and tasty everytime with a nice spice to it. I do substitute chicken for shrimp. If you're craving Pad Thai, look no further than the King.

We ordered the vegetarian thai fried rice. It was the best that we had during our stay in sfo.

This place is very tasty, especially the Tom Kha Gui and the Panang curry. The only thing that annoyed me was the higher than average cost of the food, they charge around $12-$13 per dish and I ordered a can of coke for takeout and they charged me $3 for the can so total was $17 after tax, a bit pricey for one person. The online menu must be outdated because the prices are higher than what's listed on their online menu. Either they're making up for their high rent because it's in a prime union square location, or they're greedy and taking advantage of tourists.

This Thai food is the best I've ever had. Customer service is EXCELLENT; they first give you the menu, pick, and ask you when you're ready. If you're getting noodles, you can choose how fat or skinny you want them. At the end of you're meal, they give a little hard candy for free, which is pretty nice.

Interesting location right where all the fancy stores are. Food are very similar to street food stall in Thailand. The portion is big and the price is around $11-12 per plate. I think the price is a little high but considering the location, I guess it is relative. Staffs are all business. Food are hot, good, and fast. I will definitely go back if I am in the area again.
